Liesl lives in a tiny attic bedroom, locked away by her cruel stepmother. Her only friends are the shadows and the mice—until one night a ghost appears from the darkness. It is Po, who comes from the Other Side. Both Liesl and Po are lonely, but together they are less alone.
That same night, an alchemist’s apprentice, Will, bungles an important delivery. He accidentally switches a box containing the most powerful magic in the world with one containing something decidedly less remarkable.
Will’s mistake has tremendous consequences for Liesl and Po, and it draws the three of them together on an extraordinary journey. (Source: Goodreads)

Magical and enchanting, Liesl and Po is a sweet story about a girl who maintains her good cheer despite the abuse she suffers from her stepmother, a ghost who struggles to remember what it meant to be human and have humanly connections, and a lonely boy who sets out to correct a mistake made only to find he’d done right after all. Their adventure connects them to one another, as well as to other unforgettable characters they meet along the way.
It’s truly a charming read, and even the book itself is charming with wonderful illustrations included within its pages. Can’t recommend this highly enough!
